Learner Spotlight: Kulani Marivate

Aside from the outstanding work our learners are doing online, they’re also out there flourishing offline! Learner Spotlight shines a light on the incredible accomplishments our learners achieve, highlighting individual stories about how they’re taking their passions to the next level. From athletes to entrepreneurs and creatives, we couldn’t be more excited about all the talent inside UCT Online High School. And we want to shout it to the world; “look at how brightly our learners shine!”

Meet Kulani Marivate

Meet Kulani Marivate, a Grade 10 learner at UCT Online High School and a competitive dancer.

Kulani started her dancing career with ballet lessons in preschool and then moved to competitive dancing when she was in Grade 3. Her greatest dance-related achievement to date was going to Dublin and winning the championship in her section of the World Lyrical Dance Championship.

Kulani could spend up to 8 hours dancing a day! Attending UCT Online High School has helped Kulani by allowing her to structure her school work around her hectic dance schedule; if she’s got dance practice in the morning, she can complete her modules in the afternoon and vice versa. And because we’re an online high school, Kulani can do her school work on the go, from wherever she may be.
