What our guardians have to say

Hear the stories of UCT Online High School Guardians who are loving their educational journey so far.
An absolute pleasure to work with. They took our product up a notch.
Annabelle Porter, Grillz
Building our site was easier than expected. I can highly recommend them.

UCT OHS has been amazing for my daughter, when there have been problems they jump on it immediately and follow through, I have had a very good experience thus far.
Sasha Leigh, UCT OHS Guardian
It has been a tough one, but I have seen this self motivation, growth and confidence in my son especially in the last 2 terms. I cannot complain about the teachers and especially the support coach...
Lidia Branco, UCT OHS Guardian
I had my son in Gr. 10 this year. Everything they offer is legitimate. They are excellent however the std of education is much higher with the (former) Model C schools. Everything is provided with no hidden costs. A lot of work is required by the student especially self discipline and parent interaction is very important. Well, for me it was.
Shantil, UCT OHS Guardian
As a parent of a young pro-cyclist with a hectic training schedule, there couldn't be a better choice for us other than UCT OHS. At first this was the reason for our decision to change to an institution like UCT OHS. Now, at the end of 2022 and looking back at the year behind us and with Gr. 11 almost done, we are so happy with UCT OHS, that we, if we knew what we know now, would probably have made the switch regardless of her cycling.
Margarette, Grade 12 Guardian
My son is in Gr. 11 with UCT OHS and it has been a wonderful experience so far. He is absolutely thriving. Their systems and support are great. They always communicating with child and parent. Each child gets allocated a support coach. Teachers and Coach are readily available and issues solved timeously. I would recommend UCT OHS.
Colleen, Grade 12 Guardian
Blessed to be part of UCT OHS and to see how my daughter grow mentally from "baby" syndrome to this young responsible teenager. We are excited for the online platform that definitely lay the foundation for her future studies and career path. Thank you for being transparent via all your engagement from 2021 until the start of the academice year. Thank you to all the support staff you are amazing!
Alta, Grade 12 Guardian
UCT OHS gave my children the opportunity to be in a healthy environment which greatly encouraged them to strive and improve on their academics.
Arisha, Grade 11 Guardian
It's (UCT OHS) not for everyone, but for the right child it is the best. My son works well by himself. He has grown so much having to be responsible for his own time management. He is a lot more independent.
Charné, Grade 11 Guardian
She (my daughter) has become more smart, matured and independent. She knows her way around challenges and it seems like nothing is hardly a challenge she can’t tackle!
Danny, Grade 11 Guardian

My child has done such a 360 and for that I will be forever grateful and he has made so many new good friends. He was on another online school platform and he was so isolated, no contact with other peers and it took its toll on him. We have been home online schooling since before Covid and UCT OHS was really a game changer
Zeta, Grade 11 Guardian
UCT OHS is the stepping stone to this dream of ours of better education and my daughter is happier and less anxious. Halfway through the year, we realised that she did better in her grades and I've got a much more confident teen that puts effort in and works according to a structured timetable.
Alicia, Grade 12 Guardian
Not all children and households are the same. My grade 9 son THRIVED in the system. No, he did not get straight A's, which in a traditional school he may have achieved, but he had (a) chill time, low stress and no bad influences. Some days he would school for 2 hours, and I would be concerned, but then I simply went onto the guardian portal and saw that he was either on track or behind and handled the situation accordingly. I don't agree with everything that happened in terms of grading and the tech was not always sound but my son's support coach was AMAZING in assisting us to get answers and support where needed. We always got answers and input. My son grew up, got into a 'self help' mindset and learned to be independent. He even made some good friends. We had 2 meet and greet events where the kids got to know each other and those who got along continued a virtual friendship... that's today's life... Anyway, I don't take away from those students and guardians that put in a lot of effort and did not have a good experience. This type of schooling is NOT for everyone.
Deidre, Grade 10 Guardian
I can attest that my son is definitely now ready for tertiary education in 2024. This UCT OHS model is perfect for doing just that. Brick and Mortar schools or other online schools like Teneo (where he was) is just parrot learning and doesn't train them to succeed in tertiary ed where it takes much more than just brains and the quantity of work is too much for parrot fashion learning. Yes it was tough, but he is happy, thriving and has turned into a responsible young man. He chooses to stick with UCT OHS for matric next year.
Liezl, Grade 12 Guardian
I am an ambassador for everything that I believe in and I believe that educational platforms such as UCT OHS are the way of the future. However there will always be a need for brick and mortar schools as this way of learning is not for everyone. We had our challenges, we got through them and I can only sing UCT OHS' praises. It was the right decision for us. Secondly, my child has Asperger Syndrome and my children lost their mother in the middle of last year. UCT OHS has afforded my child the opportunity to work at his own pace and not be distracted by the Social pressures that come from being on the Autism Spectrum. I'm not going to beat around the bush, my child has always been an A student, but this year has given him the opportunity to maintain and even improve his marks after the challenges of the last one and a half years.
Sasch, Grade 12 Guardian
Trust your kids, and trust the process. At the start it’s hard, the temptation to take them back to traditional school when the going gets tough is always there. However, the adjustment process offers a valuable lesson - in reality, you have to have to see your challenges through! It’s either you win or the challenge wins!
Danny, Grade 11 Guardian
[We enjoy] the flexibility, which has allowed the child to work and develop at her own pace and has taught her to manage and to be responsible for her own schedule.
Gracious, Grade 9 Guardian
[We enjoy] The concept of the Support Coach and we had a great Support Coach! The Learning Facilitators when the live classes were brought in. Both of these enabled my son to go from a 60 percent aggregate in term 1 to an 80% aggregate in term 3.
