So what is the difference between online school and homeschool?

Great question.

Guardians are integral in the educational journey of their children, whether it be in a brick-and-mortar school, online school, or homeschooling context. Parental guidance is key – your interest, support and motivation are critical to ensuring that a child develops holistically.

There is a big difference between homeschooling and UCT Online High School

In the homeschooling context, the guardian is expected to be the curriculum and content creator, as well as the teacher and assessor. This takes a lot of time and is a big responsibility on their shoulders.

Whereas at UCT Online High School, learners are provided with all the learning materials they require and a learning path to guide their progression. To help set them on the right learning path and connect with fellow learners, we arrange Daily Check-Ins, Group Ask Me Anything sessions and Weekly Learning Compass sessions. They will get all the support they need from Teachers and Support Coaches to guide them through the learning material and address any struggles they may have. Also allowing us to monitor their progress and help them achieve their academic goals.

All that’s left for you to do is keep encouraging them!
